What a fantastic weekend in Adelaide! We joined with twelve other choirs from the Male Choirs Association of Australia (MCAA) and put about 330 choristers on stage in front of a 50-piece orchestra. Magnificently led by Musical Director Dr Evan Patton, we entertained a sell-out audience of over a thousand that included the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, and entourage.
Evan had a real challenge bringing together choristers that had been directed by 13 different MDs, but was clear and direct in his instruction, delivering a performance that greatly impressed the audience. Thanks go to the Metropolitan Male Choir of SA for their organisation of the event.
Many of us enjoyed the sights of Adelaide and socialising with other choirs during the Barossa Valley tour and the Festival Dinner on Sunday night. In addition to the organisers, the MCAA President (and ARC member) Neil Fleming eloquently thanked the musical directors and the accompanists of all the choirs (most of which were absent) for their contributions that made the Festival a great success.
