Massed choir Concert for Canberra

17 February 2008

The Concert is to be held at the Llewellyn Hall on the afternoon of Saturday 22nd November. It is expected that around eight male choirs will participate, and a total of 250 or so choristers.

The MCAA is delighted to know that Alwyn Humphries MBE has generously agreed to take the role of Guest Conductor - a wonderful boost for the concert. Alwyn Humphries was described by the Secretary of State for Wales (Rt Hon Peter Hain) as 'a legend - not only a credit to the world of music, but to the Welsh nation'. For 25 years up to 2005 he was Director of Music of the Morriston Orpheus Choir.

ARC President Alastair Crombie is a member of the MCAA Executive in the role of Events Coordinator. In a short period the MCAA has gained eleven members, become incorporated, adopted a budget, and commenced planning a major concert. The most recent committee meeting was held at the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium - well known to ARC members as the venue for our Annual retreat.
