Canberra Choral Society Performance of Messiah

15 November 2011

We have had an overwhelming response to our offer for singers to join us for this event which indicates a strong interest in the community to participate in singing this popular oratorio.

For Canberra singers, this is a wonderful opportunity to sing under the baton of Brett Weymark, one of the most sought after Choral Directors in Australia and director of the Sydney Philharmonic Choirs.

Our soloists are:

Anna Fraser, soprano, a regular member of the Song Company

Fiona Campbell, alto, one of Australia's finest exponents of this repertoire

Michael Martin, tenor, a regular "Messiah" soloist

Jeremy Tatchell, bass, currently based in Adelaide with Co Opera

The long-term vision of our Artistic Director, Tobias Cole, is that more people will join choirs: young people, parents and grandparents – everyone can sing! Singing is a healthy, stimulating activity that forges friendships and connections and enriches our life experience.

We plan to continue this event at the end of each year, alternating Messiah with other oratorios. Next year we plan to sing The Creation by Haydn.

We are experiencing a palpable energy and excitement at rehearsals singing with so many voices and hope that we can share this experience on December 17th to a packed audience at the Llewellyn Hall.

This will be a Christmas event not to be missed – Handel's most exciting work - a truly Christmas celebration bringing the Canberra community together in a performance of excellence.

Tickets are available from Ticketek: $45 (adult), $40 (senior), $30 (concession) $25 (Junior - 5-27yrs) - transaction fees apply:
