Calendar

Please update your diaries. At the moment if you have a MAC there is a link that will do this automatically by clicking on the icon on our website
www.rugbychoir.org.au/calendar.html

Thursday, 29th September

Annual Police Memorial Service, Kings Park memorial, 5.00 for 5.30pm. Please add your names to the gig sheet. Plan to clothe appropriately. From experience, temperatures plummet so you will need numerous layers of warmth including thermals under the blue jacket.

Concerts in October

Please note: You are well aware by now that our Concerts are scheduled for 13th and 15th October. It may have escaped some of you that we also have a gig at the AWM on Friday 14th. So please manage your time (and laundering of uniforms?) to meet such pressures of commitments. I know you can manage it all!

Our Fundraising October Concert

Sat 15th October Concert ticket prices are $25 per Adult and $20 concessions for a musical afternoon. Each member should have received by now an envelope containing a minimum of FOUR tickets to the Saturday Concert. Each member is expected to return the envelope with either $80 or $100.

Most members have collected their four tickets to sell from John Armitage. If not, please see him on Tuesday night next.

You would have all received an email from Geoff Ford with the promotional leaflet so that you can further promote and advertise your concert.

This is our only fundraising venture of the year so need as many paying customers as possible. Our aim is to fill Hughes Baptist Church Hall, present a quality performance, have fun doing it, and to make some money for the choir.

All are encouraged to work on the concert repertoire prior to next Tuesday's practice. Andrea will likely be assessing our performance readiness at the next few practices and has indicated that any major shortcomings might need fixing at a further Sunday afternoon practice (or two) prior to the concert.

If the extra practices take place, they will be held at the Southern Cross Club in conjunction with the London Concert practices.

22-23 October, Moruya / Batemans Bay weekend

Details will be issued very soon about our participation in the Moruya Festival of Song once again on the Saturday afternoon. That evening, a Gospel Music performance, will be in the Moruya Catholic Church.

Arrangements are being finalised for a gig in Batemans Bay on the Sunday. Accommodation package is being arranged in Batemans Bay.

For the moment, please put the weekend in your diaries and be a part of a great musical, social and community time.

Friday 4th November evening

Please try to attend this gig at the Woden Tradies to assist the Tradies in their sponsorship of the Woden Community Festival week.

Gig sheet is available. We need to be seen to support one of our major sponsors, The Tradies in this venture.

Together with the ARC, Woden Valley Youth Choir and Credo will also be performing. The Canberra College Jazz Band will be the fourth participant.

Planning is coming together and 150 places will be available for members of the Woden public to have a meal and hear some great music.

London 2012 Concert

See the email from Rick Dresser about the next practices, Sundays 2nd and 9th October at Southern Cross Club. Tenors 3.30 to 4.30 - Baritones/Basses 4.30 to 5.30pm

Please note that all members may participate in these extra practices if they wish, not just intending London participants.

Uniform Blazer

Those intending to participate in the Annual Concerts in October will need to wear the blazer, so time left to guarantee delivery before 13th October is running out.

If you have not been fitted out and ordered by this time, it would be wise to check with Workin Gear if there is still time to receive your blazer before 13th October. This will also be the final opportunity to purchase the blazer at the current price. Workin Gear will revert to normal commercial rates after this initial bulk ordering phase.

Those of you who have collected your blazers should see Peter Scott to be handed your pocket logo insert.

PLEASE NOTE: your committee decided that, on those occasions when it is to be worn in performance, the blazer will be buttoned by the top button only.

Member Welfare

On Sunday, Keith Jones advised that he came home from hospital on Friday 16 October. His recovery from surgery was quicker than scheduled and he hoped this to continue to be rid of tubes and impedimenta fairly quickly.

Homework from Andrea

Further practice on the Retreat foci, Shall We Gather, Our Cities Face the Sea, When the Saints Go Marching In, I Still Call Australia Home, Ave Verum and Cantique de Jean Racine.
