Calendar

Please update your diaries. At the moment if you have a MAC there is a link that will do this automatically by clicking on the icon on our website www.rugbychoir.org.au/calendar.html

Thursday 15 September

Australian War Memorial 10.00 for 10.30. Battle of Britain ceremony. Gig sheet numbers are reasonable but could do with some extras please.

17-18 September Our Retreat in Goulburn

Please ensure your attendance at our week-end retreat and both October concerts. New members especially will benefit from the weekend Retreat. The thorough musical workout and good fun is the sure way to cement your relationship with the choir.

Check the Keith Jones email on the Goulburn week-end which has distributed by Geoff Ford. Remember you need to add your name to the attendance sheet. I understand that Peter still
awaits $32 payments from a few members for the Sat night's dinner at the club.

Look at your car pooling options and decide if you might share accommodation. Ensure that you EMAIL Goulburn to book your accommodation. Bookings must be made by 3rd September to take advantage of the group rates. Copies of all emails from Geoff Ford are on the website under latest news.

Thursday, 29th September

Annual Police Memorial Service, Kings Park memorial, 5.00 for 5.30pm. Please add your names to the gig sheet. Plan to clothe appropriately. From experience, temperatures plummet so you'll need numerous layers of warmth under the blue jacket and thermal undies.

Concerts in October

Please note: You are well aware by now that our Concerts are scheduled for 13th and 15th October. It may have escaped some of you that we also have a gig at the AWM on Friday 14th. So please manage your time (and laundering of uniforms?) to meet such pressures of commitments. I know you can manage it all!

Saturday 15th October

A bargain, $25 per ticket and $20 concessions for friends and relatives. Each member will be allocated a minimum of FOUR tickets to the Saturday Concert and the aim is to have each of you returned $80 - $100. Obviously, please be out there touting for as many paying customers as possible.

The Concert sub-committee is close to finalising promotional material for the sale of tickets. Our aim is to fill Hughes Baptist Church Hall, present a quality performance, have fun doing it, and to make some money for the choir.

Please ensure your attendance at both concerts and the Retreat. Remember also the Matinee Concert on Thursday 13 October concert for the Aged Care.

22-23 October, Moruya / Batemans Bay Weekend

Details will be issued very soon about our participation in the Moruya Festival of Song once again plus the Gospel Music performance in the Catholic Church.

Arrangements are being finalised for a gig in Batemans Bay on the Sunday. Accommodation package is being arranged in Batemans Bay.

For the moment, please put the weekend in your diaries and be a part of a great musical, social and community time.

Friday 4th November Evening

Please try to attend this gig at the Woden Tradies to assist the Tradies in their sponsorship of the Woden Community Festival week.

Gig sheet is available. We need to be seen to support one of our major sponsors, The Tradies in this venture.

Together with the ARC, Woden Valley Youth Choir and Credo will also be performing. We hope that Hall Village Brass Band will also participate.

London 2012 Concert

Joint practice this SUNDAY afternoon, 11th September in the Rainbow Room (downstairs room) at the Canberra Southern Cross Club, Woden. T1s and T2s will practice from 3.30 to 5.00; Baritones/Basses 4.00 to 5.30; i.e. all parts together for one hour.

Please note that all members may participate in these extra practices if they wish, not just intending London participants.

Uniform Blazer

The 9th Sept suggested date for the ordering and measuring of the new blazer is upon us. Those intending to participate in the Annual Concerts in October will need to wear the blazer so time left to guarantee delivery before 13th
October is running out.

This will also be the final opportunity to purchase the blazer at the current price. Workin Gear will revert to normal commercial rates after this initial bulk ordering phase.

Those of you who have collected your blazers should see Peter Scott to be handed your pocket logo insert.

Homework

Please attend to homework requirements from Andrea Please check out the new song Our Cities Face the Sea – Sib file has been distributed. Review Pinafore song, recall He Sings A'well A'day, practice Shall We Gather.

Sibelius Files

NO, you do not have to be confident; but you need to be aware, start with a play and run through of the Sibelius file. Pick out your part; please do not be seen to be totally ignorant.

Your committee is endeavouring to focus attention on deliberate use of the Sibelius tool by members as the major adjunct to the Tuesday night training. This will benefit everyone as the Tuesday training should then be just to tweak it.

If you need Sibelius help ask your committee and a sib buddy will be found for you.

Regards
Neil

Woden Valley Youth Choir

Is presenting an uplifting concert at the new Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, "The Q", in September

Nearly one hundred talented young musicians will deliver an inspiring program packed with spunky choreography, controlled classics, funny folk songs and cleanse-your-soul ballads, and we would be grateful if you could publicise the concert within the Australian Rugby Choir community (for example, in a newsletter, on a website, on a noticeboard, or during announcements).
