Our Retreat 17-18 September in Goulburn

Please ensure your attendance at our week-end retreat and both October concerts. New members especially will benefit from the weekend Retreat. The thorough musical workout and good fun is the sure way to cement your relationship with the choir.

Thank you, Keith Jones for the email on the Goulburn week-end which has distributed by Geoff Ford. Remember you need to add your name to the attendance sheet and also to give the monies to Keith if you are going to the Saturday night dinner.

Look at your car pooling options and decide if you might share accommodation. Ensure that you contact Goulburn to book your accommodation. Copies of all emails from Geoff Ford are on the website under latest news.

Concerts in October

Have you started approaching your friends, colleagues and associates to attendance at our Saturday Concert on 15th October in the afternoon this year? Remember $25 per ticket and $20 concessions. The afternoon venture was introduced largely in response to suggestions from members so get out there and get the people along.

Each member will be allocated a minimum of FOUR tickets to the Saturday Concert and the aim is to have each of you sell your tickets and have $80 or $100 returned from you. Of course, most of you will be easily able to sell way more than four tickets. Won't you? – say YES.

Please ensure your attendance at both concerts and the Retreat. Remember also the Matinee Concert on Thursday 13 October concert for the Aged Care.

Keep in mind the Moruya Festival of Voice on Saturday 22 October.

Sponsor Update

Vice President Eddy and I have met with officials of the AWM, CPS and The Tradies in recent weeks. A number of initiatives with each are currently being sorted and confirmed but it is fair to say that the ARC is very favourably considered in all eyes.

Eddy and I have come away from each meeting quite excited and we look forward to informing you of confirmed outcomes very soon.

Brumbies Rugby has also promised to include us in their notice of Michael Thomson's replacement so that we can liaise with the new person in readiness for the 2012 season.

London 2012 Concert

Arrangements about London practices for all participants jointly will be communicated very soon. Options are being canvassed currently.

Thank you to the vast majority of participants who have forwarded their accommodation deposit for the London Hotel as per Rick Dresser's recent instructions. The few remaining participants who need to attend to this task should endeavour to arrange transfer of funds by next Wednesday 24th August 2011 to ensure that funds are in the choir's account by cob Friday 26th August.

Rick advises that some transfers have taken up to three days to be deposited into the ARC account. Intending participants must appreciate that the deposit must be in the choir's account as per Rick's instructions by cob Friday 26th August or the hotel booking currently in your name will be forfeit.

Uniform Blazer

Many thanks to the huge majority of members who have arranged fitting and ordering of the new blazer, from Workin Gear in Fyshwick. Remember that if you intend to participate in the October Concerts that wearing of the blazer is stipulated, therefore you should arrange to visit Workin Gear by 9th September at the latest to ensure delivery before the 13th October.

Those of you who have collected your blazers should see Peter Scott to be handed your pocket logo insert. Peter also has collected a supply of spare uniform buttons for the blazers should anyone need a replacement in the future.

Calendar

Please update your diaries. At the moment if you have a MAC there is a link that will do this automatically by clicking on the icon on our website www.rugbychoir.org.au/calendar.html

Wed 31st August - Numbers for the COTA gig could do with further injection please. Please attend to the gig sheet next Tuesday if you can assist with this event.

Tuesday 13th September – Remember our practice venue has changed to the Orion Room at the Woden Southern Cross Club.

Friday 4th November evening - Please try to attend this gig at the Woden Tradies to assist the Tradies in their sponsorship of the Woden Community Festival week. Add names to the gig sheet please.

Member Welfare - Darryl Cupitt

Spoke with Darryl today. He has recovered physically from the procedure very well. His voice is still posing challenges so he is not ready to sing yet. He hopes to be ready for the Retreat but by the time of the Concerts in October at any rate.

Homework

Please attend to Andrea's homework requirements. She will be issuing pointers each week for attention during your personal practice before the next practice.

Regards
Neil
