7 October 2010

For the third year in a row the 'Red Coats' of the Hall Village Brass Band will grace the stage at The Q for an inspirational evening of Brass ensemble music. The Hall Village Brass Band is recognised as the Canberra region's premier brass band. The band has a proud history of quality brass ensemble performances in and around the Canberra region.

The Concert Program

The Band will present an entertaining program featuring the diverse range of brass ensemble playing for which Hall Village Brass is renowned. The concert opens with the magnificent Light Cavalry by Von Suppe, and features other major works such as Wagner's Procession to the Minister. The concert will feature lighter, swing numbers including Let's Face the Music and Dance. The Band will also perform arrangements of many popular numbers such as The Mission, Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Bohemian Rhapsody.

A number of the Band's talented soloists will be on show, with our principal cornet Greg Stenning featuring with the classic cornet solo Zanette. Guest soloist, Philip White from the RMC Band Duntroon , will perform November Moods, a challenging, modern piece of euphonium. The Band will also accompany Bronwyn Douglass, a renowned local singer, in performing selections from the musical classic My Fair Lady and other popular numbers including I Dreamed A Dream, All I Ask of You and Time to Say Goodbye.

Come along and enjoy a wonderful evening of brass music and experience the gamut of emotions as the Band takes you on a journey through its exciting repertoire.

This concert is being supported by the Queanbeyan Lions Club.
